Contemporary Residence & Pool House

An existing 1940’s ranch home with a mid-century addition was transformed into a new contemporary residence utilizing sustainable practices and net-zero energy goals. Preserving the mid-century addition was the heart of this project and the reconfigured open floor plan with new entry, kitchen, living and family room interact seamlessly. The entire house was taken down to the studs and redesigned with a new master suite addition. A minimalist approach, clean details and natural materials are vital to the overall design of this mid-century gem which carried through in the design of the new pool house and refurbishment of pool and patio. The natural materials both inside and out compliment the wooded setting while passive house strategies bring this house to the forefront of modern energy design. Photovoltaic panels, efficient HVAC systems and high performing building envelope were utilized for energy reduction and thermal comfort. While sustainable, recycled and renewable materials were installed to reduce our environmental impact. Photography: Kurt Manley
